Our Story

Jean Argus

Founder/Owner (1989-2003)

In 1989, Jean Argus founded Jean’s Greens with a vision to bring the healing power of organic herbs, herbal teas, and tinctures to the local community. Jean, deeply passionate about the benefits of plant-based wellness and holistic health, saw an opportunity to create a space where people could access natural remedies to support their well-being. At a time when organic and alternative healing practices were just beginning to gain mainstream attention, Jean’s Greens became a pioneer in providing high-quality, ethically sourced herbs that were free from synthetic chemicals and pesticides.
Jean’s commitment to sustainability and holistic practices, combined with her desire to foster a sense of connection among those who shared her values, helped shape the foundation of Jean’s Greens as a respected institution in the herbal wellness world. From its humble beginnings, Jean's Greens has continually adapted and thrived, but always with Jean’s original ethos at its heart.

Holly Applegate

Owner (2003-2022)

In 2003, Jean Argus brought Holly to the Green Nation’s Gathering to introduce her to the herbal community as the new owner of Jean’s Greens Herbal Tea Works. During a ceremony that weekend, everyone was invited to step into a circle and state an intention. Holly made a promise to Jean that she would take care of her "baby."

Holly is deeply grateful for all the people who have come into her life as a result of this business. One of the greatest joys has been getting to know each person. What started with staff and customers soon blossomed into friendships. Together, we've celebrated, shared stories, laughed, and at times, cried—always maintaining a strong sense of community and connection that went far beyond business. We hope Jean is proud.

Nora Vallon-Burgos

Owner (2022-Present)

In 2022, Nora stepped into the role of owner, bringing with her a wealth of experience as a former nurse and a deep commitment to expanding the reach of holistic and herbal remedies. After years of working in the healthcare field, Nora felt a strong calling to pivot towards a career where she could blend her medical knowledge with her passion for natural healing. Her transition into the holistic wellness world was a natural evolution of her desire to empower individuals to take control of their health through plant-based therapies, energy work, and alternative practices.

Nora’s vision for Jean’s Greens is to make holistic health accessible to everyone, no matter their background, financial situation, or where they live. She believes that healing should not be exclusive, and that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, deserves access to the healing power of nature. Her goal is to create a welcoming, inclusive space where people of all walks of life can find the resources, support, and education they need to incorporate holistic practices into their lives. Whether through affordable herbal remedies, educational workshops, or personalized wellness consultations, Nora is committed to breaking down barriers and making holistic health a practical, achievable part of daily life for as many people as possible.

Building on Jean’s Greens’ strong foundation, Nora seeks to expand the shop’s offerings and reach, ensuring that holistic care is not just for the few, but for the many.
